Why bioluminescence?

I have no connection to bioluminescence so my choice to dedicate this website to it might seem random. However, on the day that we were assigned this project I had written down bioluminescence in my notes app to look up because I never understood how it occurred. So I guess though this seems random it is the most raw reflection of how I think and learn, which almost always begins with me researching random topics that I wrote down in my notes.

Bioluminescence occurs in marine life and is created by bacteria

This fish from Finding Nemo is real and called and Angler Fish. They usually live in deep sea darkness and use bioluminescence to attract prey. As beautiful as it is, it is also a tool for survival!

This is the real Angler Fish IRL!

Though it is mostly created naturally and is harmless it can also be created in ways that are harmful. These are known as Red Tides.

When red tides occur they are very harmful for both humans and wild/marine life
